{GIVEAWAY} Pet Food & Supplies Delivered to My Door? Yes, Please!
It’s no secret to those who know me. I’m an online shopper. I dread going to a brick-and-mortar store like most people dread going to the dentist. Maybe it’s social anxiety, maybe it’s just laziness, but shopping online is so convenient. So when MrChewy.com asked me to give my honest opinion of their services, I jumped at the chance!
I was offered a $25 promotional code to place an order on their site. I decided to place an order for some kibble and was highly impressed by the number of high-quality brands they offer. I found Nature’s Variety, Taste of the Wild, Ziwipeak, Blue Buffalo, and Orijen, just to name a few!
So on Tuesday I placed an order for a 15-lb bag of Taste of the Wild “Wild Sierra Mountain” kibble. My local pet store only carries the 5-lb bag and the 30-lb bag, so I was excited to see the 15-lb bag in stock for only $25.99. We usually pay $12.99 for just 5-lbs! For us, that’s like getting a whole week’s worth of food for FREE!
At checkout, I noticed they have an auto-delivery program which I LOVE. You can select any number of weeks between your deliveries, from every 2 weeks to every 14 weeks. Oh, and did I mention that you’ll save 15% off your first order if you sign up for autodelivery? Yeah, baby! :)
Shipping is FREE if you spend $49 (which is easy to do if you order a month’s supply of dog food and some treats), but if you spend less than $49, it’s just $4.95 to ship your order. When you figure in the cost of gas to get to the pet store and the savings MrChewy.com‘s great prices offer, it’s a win-win with either shipping option.
MrChewy.com‘s registration and checkout process was super-simple and I received an order confirmation right away. My order was shipped the very next day by FedEx and I received it just one day after that. Yep, less than 48 hours between the time I placed my order and the time it was on my doorstep!
Upon opening my package, I noticed that the box was nicely packed with brown paper, in order to keep my kibble from bouncing around and possibly tearing the bag. But the real test for me was when I checked the expiration date on the kibble. I have ordered from other online retailers and received expired treats, or kibble that was so close to expiration that I had to wonder how long it had been hanging around some warehouse. Not with MrChewy.com! I was amazed that it was almost a YEAR before the kibble expired! This was great news for me, because if I decided to order 2 bags to qualify for free shipping, I could be assured that one would not expire before we finished the first.
Oh, I almost forgot one of my favorite things about MrChewy.com – they offer an awesome referral program that helps raise money for animal-related charities! If you sign up with MrChewy.com and place your first order using referral code LULU5449, MrChewy.com will give you 10% off your first order AND donate $10 to one of 3 animal-related charities! (PS. Just so you don’t think I’m begging for treats, I get NOTHING for you using my code.)
MrChewy.com was nice enough to offer a $25 gift code to one of our lucky readers so you can try their services for yourself. Just enter using the rafflecopter widget below. The contest ends on January 28th and the winner will be contacted by email. You can read all the rules of the giveaway in the widget below. Read the rest of this entry »
Yummy Birthday Treats!
We ordered a birthday box for Lu from 2 Little Bostons Bakery. We chose a wheat-free carob chip cake, a package of bbq rib treats, some sweet potato chews and a fleece tug toy. Also included were a packet of carob powder, sprinkles and several different frosting recipes.
2 Little Bostons is giving away a free month of treats! If you’d like to enter their giveaway, check out their facebook page and click the “giveaway” tab.
Our box arrived today and couldn’t have been more perfect!
You are SO mean, making us wait!
Lu says “NOM, NOM, NOM!”
Wally says “IZ DEEELISHUS!!”
I can have more cake, please??
Happy Birthday to my heart dog!
Today is Lu’s second birthday! It seems like just yesterday that I was blogging about her first birthday. Where has the year gone???
A couple of weeks ago, our friends at Kol’s Notes celebrated their Half-Blogoversary with an awesome giveaway. We were the lucky winners of a Nina Ottosson DogCasino toy!
I received it last week, but decided to hang on to it as a birthday gift for Lu. Here she is, checking out her present!
Lu is very good with these kind of toys. We already have the Brick and she figured out the Spinny and Tornado in no time at training class. I was hoping this would be a challenge for her, but alas, my darling Lu is too smart for her own good. She really LOVED this puzzle toy though! See for yourself!
I started out in “easy mode”. As you can see, this was NO challenge to her at all.
Then I put the pegs in to increase the difficulty. These pegs keep the drawers locked until she pulls the pegs out. This was a little more challenging, but it still took her less than 1 minute to figure out the puzzle.
Oh, LuLu. What are we going to do with you?!
[CLOSED] M&J Dog Essentials – Review & Giveaway!
I was recently contacted by M&J Dog Essentials and asked if I would be interested in trying their holistic grooming products. After checking out the ingredients, we happily agreed! Their products are made with therapeutic oils, herbal extracts and custom-made flower essence blends to soothe your dog’s body AND mind.
We received and tried the following products:
Nutrient Fusion Pre-Bath Treatment
Loosens dirt and debris to make shampooing more effective.
How it works: To apply, massage it into the dog’s dry coat 5-20 minutes prior to bath time.
Our results: The Nutrient Fusion is pleasantly fragrant, non-greasy and easy to apply. Lu and Wally definitely enjoyed their pre-bath massage!
Purely Clean Shampoo & Conditioner
Sulfate and paraben free, gentle enough for even the most sensitive dogs. Easily washes away dirt and debris and eliminates smelly, dirty dog odor.
How it works: To apply, massage into the dog’s wet fur, avoiding the ears and eyes. Rinse thoroughly.
Our results: This low-sudsing formula is very easy to rinse, which we appreciate! Even though Lu and Wally have very short fur, many products seem to need to be rinsed forever to get their coats free of suds. The fragrance is intense, but pleasant. And since it is sulfate free, it is gentle and will not strip the fur of its natural oils. We have often had issues with post-bath dandruff, but there was not a flake in sight after bathing with Purely Clean!
Lu has naturally silky, soft fur. Wally, however, has a coarse, almost wiry, dense coat. After he was dry, I noticed that this shampoo left his fur EXTREMELY soft. I have never seen results like this on Wally’s fur!
Show Dog Shine Leave-In Conditioner
Naturally conditions your dog’s coat and naturally helps to protect against sun and insects! Eliminates odor and reduces dog dandruff.
How it works: Apply product between palms and massage onto your dog’s coat between baths or directly after bathing. Do not rinse. Avoid the eye area.
Our results: Talk about shine!! This thin, milky looking liquid is magic in a bottle. It not only smells lovely, but gave my dogs’ coats a gloss like no other product I’ve used.
Ooooh! So shiny!

Simply Soothed Herbal Rinse
Relieves dry, itchy skin with the potent flowers of lavender, calendula and chamomile. Helps to restore and replenish the skins protective layers.
How it works: Soak the pouch in hot water until the temperature has cooled to lukewarm. Soak a hand towel in the herbal rinse and lay the warm, wet towel over the dogs back or other irritated areas. Repeat until all of the rinse has been used. Or pour the lukewarm rinse evenly over your dog’s coat in the tub. Let dry.
Our results: This is the product I’m most excited about. Lu’s allergies have been acting up again, leaving her poor chest red and inflamed and her paws raw and itchy. After giving her a good soak in Simply Soothed Herbal Rinse, her chest was noticeably less pink and inflamed and she refrained from licking her paws.
Look how bright and clean they are!
